Chateau Olivier Blanc

95 Points Wine Enthusiast

Intensely herbal, this is a concentrated, green wine. Its texture and richness come from the grassy Sauvignon Blanc. It should calm down and develop slowly, so hold until 2023.

95 Points Decanter

Gentle minerality on the nose delivers a gorgeous white peach character that slowly builds. It effortlessly replaces one sensation with the next, just building ever so slowly in power and juice, and pulsates through. Those aromatics are a little subtle at first, but it doesn’t take long in the glass for them to come out: sage and soft white flowers, then a slam of citrus and luscious nectarine. One of the whites of the vintage. 35% new oak.

94 Points Wine Spectator

Enticing, with racy tarragon, thyme and lemon peel notes backed by hints of plump white peach and yellow apple. This should be a winner when it knits from the élevage.

93 Points James Suckling

This young white shows a wonderful finish. Ripe apples, lemons and some tropical fruit. Full-bodied, dense and layered. A line of vivid acidity runs through the center palate. Very nicely crated.

As with its red, the white wine from this chateau continues to improve. Balanced and ripe, with bright, forward fruit, this wine has so much freshness while at the same time fruity generosity. With notes of spice, a pleasant mineral texture and final burst of acidity, this is a wine for aging.

93 Points James Suckling

Dense and savory with a depth of fruit and aniseed character. Full body and a juicy finish. More of a red than a white in texture. Delicious already.

93 Points Decanter

This has a little more richness than some, managing to achieve the point of bitterness on the finish that gives a welcome sense of direction. Sculpted citrus fruit dominates on the attack, with white peach and lemon zest building through the mid-palate. The red outshines it this year, but it’s still very good.

2015 Chateau Olivier Blanc Reviews

94 Points Wine Enthusiast

This rich, ripe wine has a tropical-fruit character as well as touches of herbal acidity. It is tangy and strongly mineral, with great fruitiness and structure. This is a wine for aging, so don’t drink before 2023.

94 Points James Suckling

Fascinating aromas of hot stones, lemon rind, green pears and green mangoes. Full body and dried citrus and apple flavors. Tight and focused with a savory finish. Very serious white. Drink now or hold.

94 Points Decanter

This estate reworked its whites with the 2007 vintage, when it shifted from 50/50 Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon to 75% Sauvignon Blanc, taking the opportunity to replant on more suitable soils. It has flown ever since. The grip, the shape and the aromatics on the nose are wonderful but also the subtle minerality on the finish that gives a lemon peel and wet stone persistency. 92 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Château Olivier Blanc has a lively citrus and lime flower scented bouquet, with pear and almost granitic notes surfacing with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity – green apple, gooseberry and a twist of sour lemon towards the finish. There is something almost Loire-like here, perhaps a little Sancerre-like in style, but irrespective of stylistic semblances, the bottom line is that this constitutes a very fine white Bordeaux that will be delicious from the word go. 91 Points Wine Spectator

A vibrant mix of nectarine, tangerine and white peach flavors are streaked with lemon zest, verbena and chamomile notes in this white, which has weight but maintains good tension through the finish. Drink now through 2020.

2014 Chateau Olivier Blanc Reviews

A blend of 78% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon and 2% Muscadelle.

92 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2014 Chateau Olivier Blanc has retained that attractive mineral-drenched bouquet that I enjoyed so much out of barrel: fine delineation and a sense of energy bursting from the glass. The palate is very fresh on the entry with lime cordial, kiwi fruit and a touch of lemongrass, less shrill than it showed at primeur but with an engaging, lip-smacking salinité on the persistent finish. Excellent white Pessac-Léognan.

92 Points James Suckling

A bright and linear white with sliced apples and pears. Medium body, crisp acidity and a flavorful finish. Shows excellent tension and focus. Drink now.

91 Points Wine Spectator

Very engaging, with shortbread, lemon curd, white peach and gooseberry notes that have a vibrant interplay, showing richness and zip. A quinine echo adds range on the finish. Drink now through 2019.

2013 Chateau Olivier Blanc Reviews

93 Points Wine Enthusiast

Still tight and closed up, this wine has potential, offering ripe citrus and white fruits and nervy, tangy texture. Concentrated and dense, it’s a wine for the long term; drink from 2020. Olivier is a large medieval hunting estate that, since the 19th century, has belonged to the Bethmann family. The 148 acres of vines and forests are managed environmentally.

2012 Chateau Olivier Blanc Reviews

94 Points Wine Spectator Cellar Selection

Closed and tight, this dense wine is slow to develop. It has great weight, richness, powerful green and white fruits that are coming through the complex texture. It needs to age. Drink from 2018.

2011 Chateau Olivier Blanc Reviews

92 Points Wine Enthusiast

A wine with weight and richness, there is considerable concentration, with citrus flavor and ripe fruit densely set in the background.

2010 Chateau Olivier Blanc Reviews

89 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Excellent lime and citrus honey notes with hints of pineapple, candle wax and fig are all present in this medium-bodied, relatively spicy and very tasty white Graves. Drink now-2025.
