The 2015 Chianti Classico Fontalpino is a delightful wine to drink. It shows ripe primary fruit and sweet back notes that add to the textural richness and the decisive but relatively understated power of the wine. Dark cherry, blackberry, spice, and cured leather are part of the aromatic ensemble. The mouthfeel is fresh, soft and nicely constructed with pretty layers of medium extraction and firmness.

92 Points Wine Spectator

Rich, round and expressive, featuring black cherry, black currant, earth and iron aromas and flavors. The pure fruit notes are offset by distinctly Tuscan accents, with a hint of herbs on the finish. Fine balance. Best from 2020 through 2032.

90 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chianti Classico Querciabella adopts a soft and creamy style that adds momentum to the bouquet and palate. The quality of fruit is soft and enriched with deep cherry, chocolate and toasted espresso. It is an oak-driven wine for sure, but the deep inner ripeness of the fruit harvested in 2015 is more than enough to even things out and give balance. This Chianti Classico should pair seamlessly with your favorite Italian regional dishes. Some 100,000 bottles were produced.

2015 Il Molino di Grace Chianti Classico Reviews

92 Points  Wine Spectator

A fluid, cherry-infused red, with harmony and a vibrant structure lending immediate appeal. Nonetheless, the solid tannins suggest this will age well. Leather, earth and iron notes round out the flavor profile. Best from 2020 through 2035.

90 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chianti Classico is a classic expression from a great vintage. The wine delivers balanced and steady aromas with bright cherry, pressed blackberry, violets and moist earth. It is true to the taste profile you should expect from this historic Sangiovese-based appellation in Central Italy. The finish reveals bright acidity and accessible primary fruit. This is a mid-weight effort with a long and polished finish. With 80,000 bottles produced, this is an excellent value option.

2015 Castello dei Rampolla Chianti Classico Reviews

Suggested Retail Price $38.00

93 Points James Suckling

A wonderfully floral Chianti Classico with jasmine and elderberry flowers not to mention smoke, plums, and light chocolate. Medium to light body, soft tannins, and fresh acidity.

93 Points Vinous

The 2015 Chianti Classico is simply magnificent. A deep, boldly sketched wine featuring dark cherry, blackberry, licorice, lavender, and spice, it offers unreal density and power at this level. The purity of the fruit alone is striking. Even with all of its obvious intensity, the 2015 maintains freshness and energy. It is without question one of the wines of the vintage so far.

92 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chianti Classico is a polished and immediate wine that puts forth a beautiful bouquet built on solid layers of healthy primary fruit. The wine offers expansive aromas of cherry liqueur, cola, licorice, and balsam herb. That unique vertical intensity you see here is what sets the wine apart. In fact, it may even show minimal volatility or other similar so-called imperfections, although this quality serves to build the momentum and the persistence of the wine. I love the style put forth here.

92 Points Wine Enthusiast

Aromas of truffle, leather, menthol and mature plum take the lead on this concentrated red. The aromas follow through to the full-bodied, chewy palate along with fleshy black cherry, licorice and dried herb. Close-grained tannins provide the assertive framework. Drink 2019–2025.

Suggested Retail Price $32.00

A blend of  80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

93 Points James Suckling

Dried cranberries, dried redcurrants, blueberries, cedar and dried nutmeg. Full-bodied yet very linear and refined with really driven acidity, which permeates the layers of red fruit right through to the tight finish. Drink now or hold.

92 Points Wine Spectator

The cherry and plum flavors are matched by leather, tobacco and almond notes in this sinewy red. Stays balanced and long, with the ripe fruit offset by dusty tannins. Best from 2020 through 2035.

91 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Brolio (made with 80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a tight structure with fine textural knitting and overlapping fruit flavors. The wine’s seamless integration is very impressive. It shows bright fruit flavors that are offset by spice, tar, smoke, and grilled herb. There is nothing too heavy about this Riserva, and that’s the best part yet. The mouthfeel is buoyant, long and finessed. This wine is fermented in stainless steel (with up to 16 days on the skins), and it is aged in neutral oak for 18 months.

91 Points Wine Enthusiast

This robust red is 80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. It opens with aromas of black currant, cedar and a hint of violet while the firmly structured palate offers dried black cherry, vanilla, licorice and a touch of mocha. Assertive but polished tannins provide support.

2015 Felsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva Reviews

Suggested Retail Price $40.00

94 Points James Suckling

What a delicious nose that’s ripe, but also really well defined with dried red plums, hazelnuts, Indian spices, baking spices, cedar, tar, and licorice. The dusty tannins are a delight, and so are the dried fruit and spices that warm the palate. They also penetrate all the way through to the long, charcoal-laden finish. Drink in 2021.

93 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardenga is a wine of increased depth and power. The bouquet is redolent of dark fruit, dried cherry, grilled herbs and moist clay that has been wetted by rain drops. The wine shows power and determination on the close that gives it momentum and persistence. This wine shows good possibility for further evolution in the bottle over the next five years or more.

93 Points Wine Spectator

Flavors of black cherry, plum, earth, chestnut, leather, and bark are matched to a dense, brooding profile. Needs time to find balance, while cherry notes lurk beneath as this plays out on the firm, dry finish. Best from 2022 through 2036.

90 Points Wine Enthusiast

Aromas of dark culinary spice, mature berry and a whiff of new leather emerge in the glass. The tightly wound, tense palate offers wild cherry, licorice, and clove framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Give this another year or two at least to fully develop. Drink 2019–2025.

2015 Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia Reviews

Suggested Retail Price $60.00

97 Points Vinous

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is one of the most finessed young Rancias I have ever tasted. Silky, aromatically precise and nuanced to the core, the 2015 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. This is an impressive showing.

95 Points James Suckling

Plenty of dark plums, black cherries, blackberry pie, cedar, tobacco and a hint of orange rind. There’s a real vitality to the palate, which is so well carved out by firm, savory tannins, and seriously bright acidity. A chewy finish. Drink in 2022.

94 Points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is a tremendous wine with an impactful yet very elegant bouquet. The central theme here is darkness and richness, and you get both of those things to the extent that Sangiovese can offer. The magic here is that Sangiovese sticks stubbornly to its inner grace and elegance, especially in a classic vintage such as this. Gravel alberese soils add to the wine’s overall sharpness and detailed focus. There is a touch of sweet cherry confit ripeness on the close. Some 40,000 bottles were made.

94 Points Wine Spectator

The fine cherry, plum, leather and spice flavors pick up accents of chocolate, earth and mineral as this red gathers steam. Builds to a firmly structured finish, where sweet fruit and dusty tannins linger. Drink now through 2028.
